Penelope Joy is One!

Penelope Joy is One!

I'm a little behind on most things in my life, even the simple task of taking pictures of my own daughter for her 1st birthday. . whoops. The truth is however, that it is NOT easy taking photos of a one year old who wants to do anything but sit still.  I'm sure the other seminary students and other parents around us thought I looked ridiculous rolling around in the grass, singing the Paw Patrol theme song, and sweating my booty off (even though it was only like 75 degrees out).  All of this craziness is the reason I have procrastinated taking these photos of little P. Now she is 14 months old, but who really cares? I don't, so there you have it! She's still a cute little baby and not too much has changed in the last two months, except a little hair growth. So here is a late happy birthday to my sweet, sweet Penelope Joy Rowland! Mama loves you (and Daddy too!).

Waiting for sweet Avery!

Waiting for sweet Avery!

I believe that my favorite thing in the world to shoot is maternity.  I've always had this strange love for all things pregnancy and baby related; I think that everything about it is beautiful.  It's always such a sweet reminder of how good God is, and it's amazing how much He can bless our lives with such a small little bundle of joy.  Oh, how good He is! I cannot wait to see sweet little Avery (who will be here any time now)! But for now, here is David and Mykalah looking good and waiting on their sweet lil' babe.  I know you two will be amazing parents and lead Avery in the way of the Lord.

xoxo, Steph.

Will & Erin Fox

Will & Erin Fox

There is something incredibly special about photographing the wedding of two people you love. I've known Will since high school because of his best friendship with Josh (hubby). He is one of the most genuine and down to earth people I've ever known, and that's why he is so easy to love! His friendship with Josh quickly became a sincere friendship with me as well. Then he met Erin, and things got even better. Part of being meant for each other is truly making each other better.  Erin is also incredibly relaxed, down to earth, and easy to be around; she is literally Will's perfect compliment. These two are so special; obviously, when they asked me to photograph their wedding, I was honored. I am so happy for you guys and the lifetime you get to share together! I know your relationship will bring God so much glory and you two so much love! Congrats, guys - welcome to the married people club!

Sugar Love Series (part 3)

Sugar Love Series (part 3)

In honor of Pi Day (3/14), the next stop in this sugary series is at The Proper Pie Co. in Richmond, VA! While this store does serve many amazing sweet pies, they are actually most well-known for their savory handheld pies.  We didn't cover those, though; why go savory when you can go sweet?  Proper Pie Co. is located right on E. Broad Street,  near the Church Hill area of Richmond, in a quaint little store front.  The store is small in size, but that definitely does not detract from the business. While we were there (2 pm, on a Wednesday), the store was filled with people the entire time! The crowd is proof of the great quality.

Now, to the important part: you've got to check out these pies (pictured below).

I had the blueberry sour cream pie (highly recommend), while Kristin ordered the chocolate raspberry (also amazing).

Do those look fantastic or what? They totally were...

I think every day should be pie day :p

Sugar Love Series (part 2)

Sugar Love Series (part 2)

Hello all!

The next stop on my sugar love series is a delightful locally-owned business in Petersburg known as the Sweet Dixie. This dessert/gift shop is shared in a building that sells antiques; in my humble opinion, that is amazing! There are not many things I love more than eating treats and looking at really cool antiques. The Sweet Dixie is not only a treat and gift shop, but is a whole experience, the perfect outing for a Saturday afternoon. The staff is so friendly and the Sweet Dixie shop has the cutest items for sale - many things are handmade (I especially love the goat milk lotion and bar soaps pictured). So, if you are in the area and have some time to spare, I highly recommend stopping by the Sweet Dixie and antique shop. Get yourself a treat. I believe you deserve it! The macarons pictured below are my FAVE, by the way!

Happy 6 months, Penelope!

Happy 6 months, Penelope!

I simply cannot believe that my sweet baby is already six months old. It seems like just yesterday that Dr. Alexander laid her on my chest, and Penny made eye contact with me immediately. I knew at that moment I would never have that bond with anyone else. She was and is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. Now, here we are.  Penny is turning into a little person right in front of our eyes, and it is the coolest thing to witness.  I couldn't have asked for a better baby, and I pray that she is always as joyous, inquisitive, and spunky as she is now! Your daddy and I love you Penelope.

Happy half birthday baby!

Cameron's Sunny Senior Session

Cameron's Sunny Senior Session

I love snow days! Especially when there is so much snow that we are trapped in the house, forced to watch movies and eat yummy comfort food (working on a pot of chili).  Some of the best memories are made on snowy days, and now that we have Penelope, they are going to be even more special.  On the other hand, there are those that are currently dreaming of the Summer and the warmth that comes along with it.  So, for you guys, here are some sun-drenched pictures of the gorgeous Cameron!  Warm months will be here soon enough!

David and Mykalah get Married!!

David and Mykalah get Married!!

Boy, do I love photographing friends. These two are members at our church [Smyrna Baptist], and I was lucky enough to watch their relationship start and grow all the way to marriage. You guys are so good together, and I'm so happy to be a part of your lives, not only as your wedding photographer but also as your friend! I know love when I see it, and it just radiates from y'all! My goodness, stay goofy and happy and lovey as long as possible, you both wear it well.

Sugar Love Series (part 1)

If you know me at all, you know that I love sweets.  Doughnuts, cupcakes, cookies. . . they are my downfall.  I especially love them when I'm surrounded by my friends and family, and we are enjoying them together! Recently Josh, Penny, and I, along with our family/BFF's Brad, Ashley, Jackson, and Luke, visited Buttermilk Bake Shop, located in Old Towne Petersburg. Oh my stars - talk about yum. We highly recommend it! Their doughnuts are super yummy and homemade daily, and their cupcakes look so cute and delish (haven't tried those yet!). Go check them out, if you haven't already, and let me know what you think! The Samoa doughnuts are AH-mazing. Needless to say, I love my sugar, and I love my family.

Joe and Allison Strong

Joe and Allison Strong

The Strong wedding was my first that required travel, and boy was it worth it!

Joe and Al, it was an honor to witness and capture such a beautiful day.  Every detail of the day was perfect, and I'm so glad I can call each of you my friend.  Cheers to the future; I can't wait to see the adventures you two share!
